a buck with 16” spikes at 10:45am on Monday, November 26. Jeff - Tuesday, November 27 at 8:55am at my spot. I did not have a shirt on when I shot him. I tracked him for 1 hour and 10 minutes (until 10:05am) and then shot 3 more times at him. The first of those shots missed. Drag time was 3 hours and 45 minutes. This was an illegal buck which was turned into the Game Commission. I paid a $25 fine. They took the antlers, but I kept the deer. The rack had almost a 16” outside spread, 16” main beams, and 5” tines. This was the only deer taken at Abel’s. Travis - December 1st, first Saturday, 1 shot. The 8 point had a 17½" inside spread. Killed at approximately 10:30 am off of Mountain Road. Notes - Gus’s first year. Craig and Gus saw a legal buck cross the road on Monday, November 26 on the way to William’s Hollow. Gus shot an 8 point and a 7 point in the field next to his house on Wednesday, November 28 at around 3:00pm. Jeff - Brian - Monday, November 29 in Bedford County. Craig - Shot it in the right side of the ravine heading up near dad's spot. Two shots at 10:20am on Saturday, November 27. About a 4 hour drag and saw a bear in the ravine on his way out. On Sunday, November 7, Craig shot a fox (dog) in the meadow at 5:00pm. Notes - Craig took a button buck that was hit on East Prospect on Sunday, January 3 at about 1:30am. Sydney came upon it and called Craig and they called the police who shot it. On October 2, Craig missed a 6 point in archery in Spring Valley Park and Jeff saw a Coyote. On October 7, Kara got a button buck in Starview. On October 9, Jeff found a range finder in Spring Valley Park. On November 6, Kara shot a doe in Rocky Ridge Park. We tracked it for a few hours, but never found it. Also on November 6, Jeff saw a spike buck in Spring Valley Park. Craig and Jeff went bear hunting in Gains on Sunday, November 28 and Coyote hunting that evening. |

It was a 33 pound bitch. Passed up an 8 point archery hunting at John’s in Wrightsville on October 4. Saw seven deer and six were bucks, and at least three were legal. Passed up a 5 point archery hunting at John’s in Wrightsville on October 25. Shot the 8 point at John’s in Wrightsville on Sunday, December 7 at 4:30pm. One shot at about 50 yards. 13" inside spread. Travis - Thursday, November 13 at 6:58am (put 7:35am on the tag) in Slainesville West Virginia. Hunting with Graham and Garret Hamilton at Garret's grandparent's home (now just a hunting camp). Shot at 30 yards - complete arrow pass through. Went approximately 60 yards. Travis's first deer with a bow. |
